Welcome to Trial Advocacy year II. In this course you will learn how to conduct a trial. You will learn how the rules of Evidence converge with trial technique and advocacy styles. In the criminal trial you will learn the nuances of navigating a criminal trial. We will examine the Criminal trial from the Opening speech, to the Examination-in-Chief, Cross-Examination, Re-Examination and how to make objections . We will end the criminal portion of the course by the Closing speech and pleas in mitigation for the sentencing process. We will then explore the Civil process. How we get from Cause of Action and the process of Initiating process, to the various stages of preparation for trial and then the actual civil trial itself. Evidential rules of Discovery and privilege will be discussed and how they may help or hinder a litigant at trial.
